Alexander Apóstol studied art history at the Central University of Venezuela and photography at the Ricardo Armas school. His work has been shown internationally in important exhibitions, including: in Spain, Museo Nacional Reina Sofía, Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (MUSAC), Centro Galego de Arte Contemporáneo, CA2M, IVAM, Casa de America. In the United States, at the Guggenheim Museum, The Aldrich Contemporary Museum, Denver Art Museum, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Harvard University, ICP, Bronx Museum, CIFO and PAMM, in Miami. He specializes in the representation of urban landscapes in Venezuela and throughout South America, in which he does often pay attention to fractures in modernist designs. JACKSON, Inc. realizó una serie de mapas físicos mundiales. De ellos seleccioné 8 países latinoamericanos que han sido visitados por mi trabajo o mi persona en que, modificando sus respectivas geografía, ríos, cordilleras, llanuras, etc., descubro retratos y situaciones masculinas que generen interrogantes en función de la actitud o pose correcta en que se retrate nuestro héroe-macho latinoamericano. El hecho de que una idea urbana se exponga a través de montañas y ríos, denota la ambigüedad misma de los retratados y sus acciones. Ambigüedad que crece con imágenes que surgen lentamente sobre estos mapas que ya conocemos a la saciedad. Las montañas viñeteadas traducen conversaciones, juegos de pulso o boxeo, situaciones sexuales, retratos heroicos o incluso del cómics (Bugs Bunny), ilustrando en este caso y de forma perfecta la ambigüedad de la representación masculina."
