(Some soiling, bottom margin of 2 leaves trimmed, plates with old adhesive repairs showing through, tear in the inside margin of the last leaf.) Contemporary Russian calf (some wear). Provenance: 'M.P.' (binding) -- an indistinct 19th-century title inscription. FIRST EDITION IN RUSSIAN of this illustrated life of Russia's beloved hero, military genius and last Generalissimo. Suvorov died in May 1800, soon after his legendary crossing of the Alps - a feat not accomplished since Hannibal.
