    Hans Andreas Dahl 1881 Düsseldorf – 1919 Oslo Öl auf Leinwand. Signiert "Hans Andreas Dahl" u.re. Verso in Buntstift auf dem Keilrahmen künstler- und ortsbezeichnet „Berlin W. Kurfürstenstrasse 126“ sowie betitelt. In einer breiten, weiß-grünlich gefassten, profilierten Holzleiste. Das Gemälde zeigt in sensibler und feiner, zurückhaltender Farbigkeit eine der typischen sommerlichen Fjordansichten des Künstlers. Anders jedoch als in vielen Darstellungen Dahls findet sich bei diesem Bild keine Figur am Uferrand. Kein Boot und kein Haus sind zu sehen, so dass sich der Betrachter hier allein inmitten einer lichtdurchfluteten Landschaft befindet. Der glatte Spiegel der Wasserfläche reflektiert eine sonnenbeschienene Berglandschaft, deren Konturen sich in der Ferne unscharf in den hellwolkigen Himmel erheben. Wiesenblumen säumen den im Bild rechts vorne verlaufenden Uferweg. Links setzt eine Möwe nahe des Ufers zur Landung an, andere Vögel fliegen weiter hinten übers Wasser. Neblig aufsteigende Luft verleiht der Ansicht ein besonders stimmungsvolles Licht, als ob der Ort eine frühmorgendliche Ruhe atmete – oder die Frische nach einem Sommerregen in den Bergen: ein stilles und einsames, ein fast schon meditatives Naturerlebnis.

    "Flußkrümmung"Öl auf Hartfaserplatte. 1984.47 x 63,5 cm.Oben links mit Pinsel in Schwarz monogrammiert "Hf" und datiert sowie verso nochmals mit Pinsel in Schwarz signiert, datiert und betitelt.Nach 1945 beginnt Fronius mit der langen Folge von Illustrationen zu Werken der Weltliteratur. Er veröffentlicht insgesamt 115 Bücher und Mappenwerke. Besonders bedeutend sind hier seine Illustrationen zu Werken von Franz Kafka und E.A. Poe, die einem breiten Publikum bekannt sind. 1961 siedelt Fronius nach Perchtoldsdorf bei Wien um. Nach weiteren drei Jahren im Schuldienst ist er ab 1964 als freier Maler tätig. Eine intensive Schaffensphase beginnt, die Malerei tritt nun in den Mittelpunkt von Fronius' Schaffen. In der Druckgrafik dominiert die Lithografie, später wendet sich der Künstler der Radierung zu. Fronius' malerisches wie grafisches Werk wird aufgrund seines spontanen Gestus, der großen Erzählkraft und fantastischen Einbildungskraft dem "Expressiven Realismus" zugerechnet. Die thematische Spannbreite reicht von Porträts über literarische Motive bis hin zu Natur- und Städtebildern. Das künstlerische Werk von Hans Fronius erfährt seit langem eine beachtliche kunsthistorische Würdigung. Monografische Ausstellungen und Publikationen erschließen sein umfangreiches künstlerisches Oeuvre, das einen prominenten Stellenwert in der österreichischen Kunstgeschichte des 20. It depicts a naked male body on a stretcher, surrounded by two bald headed men in black suits. The motifs were executed in a very expressive and intense style that is capable of telling a whole story. The lithograph on wove paper is in good condition considering its age. The sheet shows two slight diagonal kinks as well as some scattered crease marks. The work is signed and dated with pencil lower right ‘Hans Fronius 70’. At the lower left side it is numbered with pencil ‘14/120’ as well as titled ‘Hiob’. The sheet size is 49.5 x 67.5 cm. The image measures 34 x 51.5 cm. Hans Fronius (1903-1988) Hans Fronius was born in Sarajevo , where he was as a ten year old boy witness of the assassination of the Austrian heir apparent. Fronius studied in Vienna at the Academy and was influenced in his style by his close friend Alfred Kubin. In 1931, he taught art at a Gymnasium. To escape his military duty, Fronius fled to Switzerland, where he also worked at the beginning as an art teacher before he became a successful independent artist.
