In her large-format drawings worlds are created that are only seemingly real and that are – over months and enriched with more details – condensing to complex picture stories. The sheet is mounted reversibly on a support and framed. The image dimensions are 149 x 125 cm, the sheet measures 158.5 x 134.5 cm and the frame is 177 x 153 cm in size. Martina Altschäfer (b. 1960) After graduating in fine arts from the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Altschäfer studied art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf as the master pupil of Prof. Konrad Klapheck. She was a teacher of drawing and painting at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at the Fachhochschule Wiesbaden. She went to work on the Italian island of Elba in 2010. Besides other awards, she was honored with the Prize of the state Rheinland-Pfalz for her graphic works. The artist lives and works in her hometown Rüsselsheim.
