      IMPORTANT NEW YORK CLASSICAL CHILD'S SIZE CHEST Georgian Inlaid Mahogany Chest of Drawers, attributed to the workshop of Michael Allison (1773-1855) circa 1800, a shallow upright cabinet with molded top, recessed curly maple frieze over the uppermost drawer, which has a faux front of five drawers having further maple detailing, brass knobs; three graduated drawers below with diamond escutcheons, all cockbeaded, flanked by rope inlaid stiles, on bulbous feet. 24 1/2" x 21 1/2" x 9". Fine condition. Copy of receipt and card from Jan 21st, 1955 Parke-Bernet Galleries sale 1565, lot 129, Vanderbilt et al Furniture & Decoration. Sold to Mrs. H.C. Gayley of 1088 Park Avenue, New York, NY.

      CLASSICAL CARVED MAHOGANY CARD TABLE, NEW YORK, ATTRIBUTED TO MICHAEL ALLISON (1773-1855) The rectangular hinged top with rounded corners, opening to a mahogany gaming surface, above the cushion molded frieze, carved at the corners with rosettes, raised on incurved foliate carved supports terminating in serpent masks, joined by a tripartite shelf, raised on elaborately carved winged legs with foliate carved scrolled knees with eagle head feet. 29 3/4 x 37 1/2 x 18 3/4 in. Note: An identical card table from The Wunsch Americana Foundation was exhibited in the New York State Museum, Albany, NY, in 1988; NEW YORK FURNITURE, The Federal Period, 1788 - 1825. The note in the catalog reads as follows: "This intricately carved table has acanthus-leaf and scroll-carved legs terminating with dragons'-heads on a shelf supported by feet carved in the shape of an eagle's head. Its attribution is based on a virtually identical card table in a private collection bearing the label of Michael Allison, circa 1820." Estate of Joseph T. Butler, Tarrytown, NY
