    Hermann Eichens (1813 Berlin - 1886 Paris) after Conrad L'Allemand (1809 Hanau - 1880 Hannover): Portrait of the sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch, important representative of German Classicism, , Photogravure Technique: Photogravure on Paper Inscription: Signed below the image, inscribed with the sitter's name below. Date: Description: Probably photogravure of a mezzotint. Person: Christian Daniel Rauch (1777 Arolsen - 1857 Dresden) German sculptor. Alongside his teacher Johann Gottfried Schadow, he was the most important representative of German classicism and the founder of the Berlin School of Sculpture. His major works include the tomb for Queen Luise of Prussia (1814), the monuments to Friedrich Wilhelm von Bülow (1822), Gerhard von Scharnhorst (1822), Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher (1826) and Frederick the Great (1851) in Berlin, the monument to King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria (1835) in Munich and the Albrecht Dürer monument (1840) in Nuremberg. Important memorials to the sculptor are the Christian Daniel Rauch Birthplace and the Christian Daniel Rauch Museum in Arolsen.
