JOSÉ LUIS ALEXANCO (Madrid, 1942). Untitled, 1965. Mixed media (collage, oil, canvas and paper) on canvas. It has slight flaws in the left margin. Signed and dated in the lower left corner.

      Est: €700 - €800

JOSÉ LUIS ALEXANCO (Madrid, 1942). Untitled, 1965. Mixed media (collage, oil, canvas and paper) on canvas. It has slight flaws in the left margin. Signed and dated in the lower left corner. Measurements: 38 x 55 cm; 39 x 56 cm (frame). In this work the author uses an abstract language, based on irregular geometry, with an organic character both in its outline and colors. It is an open style, whose basic characteristic is the conception of the pictorial surface as a whole, as an open field, without limits and without hierarchy. Thus, as we see here, the pictorial forms are the result of a thoughtful composition and experimentation, with an image of gestural character, are not limited to a composition, but go beyond, indicating to the viewer that it is about forms, ideas or suggestions that go beyond the boundaries of the purely pictorial. Alexanco studied drawing and engraving with Manuel Castro Gil at the Casa de la Moneda in Madrid, and in 1960 he entered the School of Fine Arts. Between 1968 and 1974 he collaborated with other artists at the University's Calculus Center, where he worked on sculptural generation programs, in collaboration with the American company IBM. JOSÉ LUIS ALEXANCO (Madrid, 1942-2021). "Sajra II", 2000. Mixed media on canvas. Signed and dated on the back.

      Est: €13,000 - €15,000

JOSÉ LUIS ALEXANCO (Madrid, 1942-2021). "Sajra II", 2000. Mixed media on canvas. Signed and dated on the back. Measurements: 100 x 130 cm. In the pictorial series that Alexanco gathered under the epigraph "Sajra" his plastic and conceptual investigation of an organic abstraction can be appreciated in a significant way. The term "sajra", which refers to spiritual entities (demons or ambiguous beings) take the form of spectra with zigzagging contours that line up in rows, covering the entire pictorial surface. In this way, the apparent chaos of the irregular stroke is subsumed in an essential geometry marked by rhythm and repetition.
