Measurements: 46 x 61 cm; 66 x 82 cm (frame). Outstanding painter of the movement called New Madrilenian Figuration in the decade of the seventies. Regular of the cultural circles of Madrid. His first solo exhibition was at the Amadís Gallery in 1971, in which its director and the painter Luis Gordillo brought together the most prominent artists at that time in Madrid, such as Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Carlos Franco, etc.After the success of this exhibition followed several exhibitions in Art Galleries, such as Buades Gallery, Cúpula Gallery, Gamarra and Garrigues Gallery, etc.He died at the premature age of 43 due to an affection. In 1992 he received the National Plastic Arts Award posthumously. In 1997, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía dedicated an anthological exhibition to him. His work can be seen in the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), in the Museo de Navarra or in the Municipal de Madrid, as well as in important Spanish private collections.

CARLOS GARCÍA ALCOLEA (A Coruña, 1949 - Madrid, 1992). "The artist's hand", 1992. Oil, watercolour and gouache on cardboard. With information label on the back of the Guillermo de Osma Gallery. Slight roughness on the paper. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Provenance: private collection conceived since the 1970s between London and Madrid. Measurements: 100 x 70 cm; 123 x 94 cm (frame). This piece belongs to the last year of the artist's life, internationally recognised for being one of the referents of the New Figuration in Madrid. The work in question shows a duplicity, which was a recurrent resource in the artist's last pictorial period. The artist paints his hand and makes it the protagonist of the work, his own hand, his working tool. The hand is shown trembling with the little finger dissected, blood gushing out, the trace of which dramatises the lyrical and poetic image that Alcolea achieves by means of a blurred technique in which the colours blend together. An outstanding painter of the movement known as Nueva Figuración Madrileña in the seventies. A regular in Madrid's cultural circles.
