He graduated in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic in 1929, later collaborating with the firm of Ponti and Lancia. Franco Albini (Italy, Robbiate, 1905 - 1977) for Poggi 1957 "LB7" bookcase walnut and metal. Dimensions 259-275 x 175 x 35 cm The LB7 modular bookcase, a masterpiece by renowned architect Franco Albini. This design not only stands out for its versatility in height and width, but also represents the pinnacle of Albini's experiments in the field of variable geometry furniture. Since opening his first studio in Milan in 1930, Albini devoted himself to exploring both furniture and building structures, developing a sober, industrial aesthetic that is perfectly reflected in the LB7. As early as 1936, Albini was researching how to maximize the use of space, a concept that materialized in his innovative interior design, the Stanza per Uomo, presented at the Milan Triennale that year. These early experiments were the basis for his most iconic designs of the following years, such as the extendable shelving unit created for Poggi in 1957. The LB7, with its adjustable uprights between the ceiling and the floor, is able to adapt to any room, making the most of the available space.
