Sie wird von Nymphen begleitet, die ihr helfen, den vor ihnen liegenden, auf Tuch und roten Kissen schlafenden Putti, heimlich deren Bögen und Köcher zu entwenden. Das andere Gemälde stellt die in abendlicher Landschaft auf einem Bett liegende Venus dar und den neben ihr am Boden liegenden Mars. Umgeben sind sie von mehreren Amoretten, von denen im Hintergrund rechts einige versuchen, mit Pfeil und Bogen auf ein aufgehängtes Schild zu schiessen. RAST AUF DER FLUCHT NACH ÄGYPTEN Öl auf Holz. 52 x 45 cm. In vergoldetem Prunkrahmen. In weiter bergiger Landschaft im Licht der untergehenden Sonne die Heilige Familie bei der Rast: Maria in rot-blauem Gewand, den schlafenden nackten Jesusknaben auf einem Laken in ihrem Schoss haltend, neben ihr Josef auf einen langen Marmorsockel mit Fries mit beiden Armen gestützt, in seiner rechten Hand ein aufgeschlagenes Buch haltend, während die linke seine Stirn stützt. Vor dem Seitenfries ein kleiner Putto, der den Esel in einem kleinen Gewässer tränkt. Am linken Bildrand zwei weitere größere Engel und mittig im Himmel zwei geflügelte Puttiköpfe schwebend. Malerei in harmonischen, frischen weichen Farben. Albani war Schüler von Denys Fiammingo Calvaert (1540-1619) sowie von Ludovico Carracci (1555-1619) und stand in Verbindung mit Guido Reni (1575-1642), der mit ihm rivalisierte. Bekannt für seine anmutigen Frauengesichter, für die seine überaus schönen Kinder Modell gesessen haben sollen. Er unterrichtete später angeblich in der Accademia degli Incamminati. Die Werke seiner Hand, u. a. in zahlreichen öffentlichen Sammlungen und Museen, beziehen sich zumeist auf mythologische Darstellungen. DER RAUB DER EUROPA Öl auf Leinwand. Doubliert. 145 x 197 cm. In teilvergoldetem Rahmen. Darstellung einer bekannten mythologischen Szenerie: In Landschaft die auf einem hellbraunen Stier sitzende Europa, die Tochter des phönizischen Königs Agenor und der Telephassa. Sie trägt ein hellblaues Gewand, das teils mit Goldbordüre verziert ist und hält sich am Kopf des Stiers fest, der dort und um seinen Halsbereich einen Blumenkranz trägt. Zudem über ihr im Himmelsbereich ein großer roter Umhang, gehalten von einem geflügelten Putto, weitere Putti begleiten sie, von denen zwei auf der rechten Seite zu erkennen sind. Zeus, der oberste olympische Gott, hatte sich in die Königstochter verliebt und verwandelte sich wegen seiner argwöhnischen Gattin Hera in einen Stier, um Europa zu entführen. Als Stier gewann er ihr Zutrauen und so setzte sie sich auf seinen Rücken. Links von ihr, ihre Füße mit seinem rechten Arm umklammernd, ein geflügelter Amor, einen Pfeil in seiner linken Hand haltend, mit welchem er die Liebe zwischen den beiden evoziert hatte. Am Ufer des linken Bildrands eine Dreiergruppe von Figuren in edlen Gewändern, die den Verlust und die anstehende Entführung der Königstochter Europa betrauern, die sich ihnen mit ihrer ausgestreckten Hand bei geöffnetem Mund zuwendet. Darstellung in zurückhaltender Farbgebung bei starker Hell-Dunkel-Akzentuierung. Albani war Schüler von Denys Fiammingo Calvaert (1540-1619) sowie von Ludovico Carracci (1555-1619) und stand in Verbindung mit Guido Reni (1575-1642), der mit ihm rivalisierte. Bekannt für seine anmutigen Frauengesichter, für die seine überaus schönen Kinder Modell gesessen haben sollen. Er unterrichtete später angeblich in der Accademia degli Incamminati. Die Werke seiner Hand, u. a. in zahlreichen öffentlichen Sammlungen und Museen, beziehen sich zumeist auf mythologische Darstellungen. Francesco Albani (Bologna 1578 - 1660) bottega/cerchia di Riposo durante la fuga in Egitto Olio su rame 28 x 21 cm L’opera, stilisticamente affine ad Albani, va ascritta alla sua bottega o a un pittore emiliano fortemente caratterizzato dalla lezione del maestro bolognese. Tra i suoi allievi meritano di essere menzionati Giovanni Maria Galli da Bibiena e Girolamo Bonini. Dopo i primi studi condivisi con Domenichino e Guido Reni nella bottega di Denys Calvaert, Francesco Albani fu ammesso all'Accademia dei Carracci. Nel 1600 si trasferì a Roma, ove il suo stile spiccatamente classicista trovò affinità con quello del suo maestro Annibale Carracci, con il quale collaborò per la realizzazione degli affreschi della chiesa di San Giacomo degli Spagnoli. Dal 1609 Albani divise la sua vita principalmente fra Roma e Bologna, trascorrendo periodi a Firenze e Mantova, diventando uno dei massimi pittori del suo tempo. Diana und Callisto Öl auf Leinwand. Doubliert. 97 x 137 cm. In gekehltem, vergoldetem und mit Perlstab verziertem Rahmen. Diana ist außer sich, als sie soeben entdeckt, dass ihre Magd Callisto von Jupiter schwanger geworden ist. Mit ihren Nymphen sitzt sie an einem fließenden Gewässer, das eingebettet ist in eine weit in den Hintergrund ziehende hügelige Landschaft, der zahlreiche Bäume eingegliedert sind. Ein Raub der Europa aus der Hand des Francesco Albani in den Uffizien in Florenz (Inventarnummer 1890 Nr. 1366) weist eine ähnliche Raumstruktur auf. Weit mehr noch jedoch aber eine Venus in der Schmiede des Vulkan (Fondazione Zeri Nummer 57839). Eine Diana mit ihren Nymphen, die als Römische Schule geführt wird, bei der sie ebenso mit einem Speer bewaffnet ist, ist bei der Fondazione Zeri unter Nummer 49121 geführt. Albani war Schüler von Denys Fiammingo Calvaert (1540-1619) sowie von Ludovico Carracci (1555-1619) und stand in Verbindung mit Guido Reni (1575-1642), der mit ihm rivalisierte. Bekannt für seine anmutigen Frauengesichter, für die seine überaus schönen Kinder Modell gesessen haben sollen. Er unterrichtete später angeblich in der Accademia degli Incamminati. Die Werke seiner Hand, u.a. in zahlreichen öffentlichen Sammlungen und Museen, beziehen sich zumeist auf mythologische Darstellungen. A Rape of Europa by Francesco Albani held at the Uffizi Galleries in Florence (inv. no. 1890 no. 1366) shows a similar composition but even more so does the painting Venus in the Forge of Vulcan (Fondazione Zeri no. 57839). A Diana and her Nymphs, which is listed as created by the School of Rome, where Diana is also armed with a spear, is also listed at Fondazione Zeri under no. 49121.

Francesco Albani (Bologna 1578 - 1660) bottega/cerchia Venere trattiene Adone Olio su tela 40,5 x 38,5 cm L’opera, stilisticamente affine all’Albani, va ascritta alla sua bottega o a un pittore emiliano fortemente caratterizzato dalla lezione del grande maestro bolognese. Tra i suoi allievi, meritano di essere menzionati, anche in ragione attributiva del presente dipinto, Giovanni Maria Galli da Bibiena e Girolamo Bonini. Dopo i primi studi, condivisi con Domenichino e Guido Reni, nella bottega di Denys Calvaert, Francesco Albani fu ammesso all'Accademia dei Carracci. Nel 1600 si trasferì a Roma, ove il suo stile spiccatamente classicista trova affinità con quello del suo maestro Annibale Carracci, con il quale collabora per la realizzazione degli affreschi della chiesa di San Giacomo degli Spagnoli. Dal 1609 Albani divide la sua vita principalmente fra Roma e Bologna, con parentesi a Firenze e Mantova, divenendo uno dei massimi pittori del suo tempo.
