      (1818 Wien - 1886 ebenda) Bildnis der Gräfin Esterhazy Spätbiedermeierliches, repräsentatives, halbfiguriges, in fein lasierender Malweise ausgeführtes Bildnis der jungen Adeligen, die er in subtiler Weise charakterisiert. Aigner war Schüler von Friedrich von Amerling und Carl Rahl, in der Ringstraßenzeit avancierte er seit Ende der 1850er Jahre zum gefragten Porträtmaler der gehobenen Gesellschaft und des Adels. Sein berühmtestes und bedeutendstes Bildnis ist das lebensgroße Porträt "Kaiserin Elisabeth mit Sternenschmuck und schwarzgoldenem Spitzenüberwurf" aus dem Jahr 1868, das sie in ihrer strahlenden Schönheit wiedergibt. Außerdem porträtierte er u. a. Kaiser Franz Joseph I., Franz Grillparzer, Friedrich Halm und Nikolaus Lenau. Öl/Lwd., doubl.; Rechts am Rand sign. u. dat. dat. "J. M.
