Raphael Scott Ahbeng is one of the most established Borneo artists. He attended an Art and Photography course at Bath Academy of Art, United Kingdom from 1964 to 1967 and a drama course in London in 1973. He won first price at the Sarawak Shell Open Art Competition in 1959, 1982 and 1983, and third prize in the Natural Malaysia Art Competition in Kuala Lumpur in 1991. He served as an advisor in the Sarawak Artist's Society from 1999 to 2000. His paintings have been held in the permanent collections of public institutions and private collectors in Malaysia and the surrounding region.

The child gets the first bonding and touches with the mother who sings lullaby to, breast-feeds, cradles, cuddles, smooches, plays and talks with the new-born. The child lavished all the attention of the mother night and day despite her condition being still naturally weak. Raphael Scott Ahbeng pays tribute to the mother for her love and care, with the newborn snugly in her body and laps which act like a natural cradle while the moon outside suggests it might be late at night.
