        RON ADAMS (1934 - ) La Diana. Engraving, etching and aquatint, printed in blue, 1968. 640x480 mm; 25 1/4x19 1/8 inches, wide (full ?) margins. Signed, titled, dated and numbered 8/25 in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression of this scarce print. According to the artist, this etching is just the third print he made. In 1967, Adams moved to Mexico where he studied lithography and engraving with Robledo Cabdavilla at the University of Mexico. The International Olympic Committee selected Adams as a graphic designer to create posters, murals and other illustrations for the 1968 Olympics there. In 1969, Adams moved back to Los Angeles and began working at Gemini G.E.L. with founder Kenneth Tyler.

Signed, titled, dated and inscribed "A/P" in pencil, lower margin. Printed and published by Hand Graphics, Santa Fe, NM. A superb, rich impression of this monumental lithograph. Adams's Profile in Blue, a self-portrait at the press, is a tour-de-force of stone lithography printed in 7 colors. This print is the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington D.C. Ron Adams is a master printer who in 1969 trained at Gemini, G.E.L, in Los Angeles with founder Kenneth Tyler, where he printed for Jasper Johns, Frank Stella, and Roy Lichtenstein. In 1974, he opened his own print shop, Hand Graphics, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he worked with many significant artists, including John Biggers on his most celebrated lithograph The Upper Room, and Charles White on his last suite of etchings and lithographs. His work has been exhibited in over 25 museums, and is in the permanent collections of many national institutions.
