Shortly after this, the artist would have his first solo exhibition at the Gimpel Fils Gallery, London, and the work is highly indicative of British figurative painting in the Post-War period, displaying the influence of figures such as Robert Colquhoun, Keith Vaughan and Graham Sutherland.
