      ADAM THE YOUNGER, A CAT WITH THREE KITTENS, Julius Adam the Younger was a member of a large family of Munich artists. First he turned away from the family tradition of animal painting and painted genre scenes. However, after 1882 he started to paint animal paintings, specializing on the depiction of cats. His brilliantly painted paintings were very popular and much sought after among collectors also in the United States.
