Sculpture
Davidee is from a family of Inukjuak artists. His father, the late
Josephie Aculiak, his brothers, Joe Adlaka, Noah, Daniel, Johnny, and Tommy,
and his sister Alicie Aculiak are sculptors. Johnny is known for his work
both as print-artist and printmaker.

        2 pieces are included in this lot. 1. A hand-carved stone whale in the "Inuit Style." The initials DIMU are carved on the bottom and is the marking of a German-Canadian artist named Dietrich Muckenheim. He was not Inuit, but inspired by Inuit works. Dimu as a person is somewhat mysterious and their works are quite sparse. DIMU pieces are usually dated to the 1960s. 2. A seal carved by Inukjuak artist, Davidee Aculiak. This piece bears the Igloo sticker on the bottom and his signature which he often shotrtened to Acu.
